Overview

J.McLaughlin is a specialty American Sportswear and Accessories brand headquartered in New York. J.McLaughlin has the reputation for being “local and loyal”, building meaningful relationships within the each community and providing customers with highly personalized service. We are a growing company with a focus on our culture of kindness, cultivating an exceptional atmosphere in which to work and shop.

J. McLaughlin is looking to hire a strong, innovative Planner to manage our Women’s Accessories categories. This position reports to the Director of Planning and works closely with our Merchant team and all cross-functional partners. The Planning Manager will work collaboratively to create, maintain, analyze, and execute strategic plans in line with J McLaughlin’s overall brand growth strategy and the goals of the category. Key to this position is the ability to build and utilize top-down and bottoms-up forecasting, work collaboratively and solve problems. This position is primarily based in our Greenpoint, Brooklyn office.

Responsibilities

  • Drive collaborative conversations with merchandising, allocation, and design partners to ensure strategic alignment
  • Work through class level plans and update regularly
  • Collaborate on buildout and execution of annual and multi-year long range plans
  • Present monthly OTB; reviewing sales, margin, receipts, and strategy; highlighting risks and opportunities
  • Manage core items/key items forecast and inventory plans in partnership with merchants
  • Understand pricing effectiveness and guide future MSRP architecture—to drive topline sale growth and sell thru product more efficiently.
  • Provide guidance and partnership to Merchant team on all buys
  • Conduct hindsight analysis to guide future budgets and strategies

Qualifications

  • 3+ years relevant planning experience within an apparel, accessories or related lifestyle brand
  • Prior experience in a DTC brand and/or accessories a plus
  • Critical thinker with the drive to uncover details, solve problems, and maximize performance
  • Expert in reporting, Excel, Retail Math with confidence with large data sets
  • Technology, data and systems enthusiast with ability to utilize and navigate planning front end systems
  • Ability to build relationships and productive partnerships cross functionally
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Organized, capable of setting and meeting deadlines for self and team
  • Adaptable and amenable to change and redirection

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.
